What Happens When you Lose an Item at Disney World?

You may be traveling to Walt Disney World soon and are curious about their lost and found process, or maybe you recently had a trip and realized you have lost an item during your stay! Don’t worry, I have you covered for all things lost and found at Disney World in Orlando, Florida.

Recently I had a family dinner at Topolino’s Terrace (check out my blog review of that experience!) and the next day, one of my family members realized she had left her wallet there! We immediately tried to call the restaurant which was surprisingly hard to do, and eventually got connected with a cast member who informed us that in order to locate the item, our only option was to go to www.chargerback.com/waltdisneyworld and fill out the form there.

While doing so, we needed to provide a detailed description of the item and where it was last seen or thought to be lost as well as contact information so they could update us about the item. We were told we would hear back within 48 hours about wether or not the item was found, but surprisingly she got an email less than an hour later that the item was located along with retrieval options. We could either pick it up, have it shipped, or decide we didn’t want it (not sure why thats even a choice).

Since she was leaving that day, she decided to have it shipped and was soon given a tracking number for the item. Later, a representative called to let her know that they are not able to ship cash, and would be sending her a check instead.

That’s about it as far as the lost and found process goes. If you choose to ship the item, there are some restrictions on the size that they are able to ship, so something like a stroller may not be possible to have shipped home. They also require you to pick up the item within 30 days if choosing that option.

On the Disney website, they really emphasize using the Chargerback system for your lost item, but I say if you know you lost the item at a certain location and you are still there, it can’t hurt to speak to the guest services or front desk if applicable.

What do you think about this lost and found process? At first it seemed like a lot of extra work but Disney really knows what they are doing and are super organized, so it ended up being a super easy process for everyone involved!
