The official opening of Disney’s newest ride is right around the corner (June 28th, 2024), and here’s what you need to know about it!
Tiana’s Bayou Adventure is a reimagination of the old Splash Mountain. As the name implies, it focuses around Princess Tiana and is full of New Orleans charm. This is a water ride, and you will get wet! It has 3 smaller drops and then the infamous big drop that can be seen from the outside. Keep reading to learn what you need to do to secure a spot on this ride.
It is unknown how long Tiana’s Bayou will remain on a virtual queue system, but for now you will need to have a virtual queue boarding group to be allowed in line.
To get a virtual queue, you must have a ticket that allows you the ability to enter Magic Kingdom. The Disney website claims that depending on the day, you may need a theme park reservation to be eligible. To be safe, having a Magic Kingdom or other park reservation would be the best route if possible.
Then to get an earlier boarding group, at roughly 6:55am on the morning of your trip, log into the My Disney Experience app and scroll down on the home page until you see a box titled “Request Access with Virtual Queue.” Tap on join virtual queue, and next to Tiana’s Bayou, you will want to confirm your party. Make sure all members who want to ride are selected and then you keep an eye on the time. When the time flips to 6:59, I start tapping the “Refresh” button (don’t scroll, it takes longer to load). The trick is to tap as quickly as possible so you make sure to snag a group. You can have multiple members of your party tapping as well, that way the fastest one will get it. This method is not foolproof, and if you didn’t get a group or even want to wait until later in the day to ride, keep reading!
The other option to getting a group is by being inside Magic Kingdom park by 1pm and repeating the same process as above (start tapping “Refresh” at 12:59pm).
Once you have your group, it should give you a rough estimate of what time you may be called. If you are in the earlier batch and are anywhere from groups 1-30, I would recommend getting to the park asap. Once your group is called, you have one hour to join the line. Since it hasn’t opened yet, we don’t know how strict they will be with letting those who arrive late in line, so try your best not to be late.
If you got a later group and will be heading to Magic Kingdom later in the day, just keep an eye on the “My Queues” page to check what group they are currently calling so you know when to head to the park. Sometimes the ride goes down or groups are smaller than expected your group could be called sooner or later than estimated.
In the passholder preview line (when I was able to ride), they had one representative from each party hold their phone out on the screen that verifies their group has been called to ensure nobody is there when they’re not supposed to be. We also scanned in one more time with our ticket to verify as well, and then we were all set!
Comment any questions you may have, and I hope you get to go down the bayou soon! 💚
