With it being the tail end of spring break right now, I am still blocked out of the parks since I have a Pixie Dust Pass (I’m upgrading it this week though). I wanted to buy a 2024 grad Mickey Ear headband so I figured it was the perfect opportunity for a trip to Disney Springs… which also means a trip to Erin McKenna’s Bakery! Read on to see what I thought about the lemon poppy square and salted caramel brownie at this completely vegan, gluten-free, and Kosher bakery!
I ordered this BEAUTIFUL lemon poppy… square? I’m going to be honest, I do not remember the exact name of this treat- I saw lemon poppy and I was already sold. However, it seems to be a slice of lemon poppy cake with lightly lemon flavored frosting! I might be biased because lemon flavored treats are my favorite, but I loved it. It was honestly hard to tell it was gluten-free, which was a little scary but also amazing! If I had to give it a critique, I would have preferred a glaze like one that would come with a typical lemon poppy muffin or loaf just because it was a pretty thick layer of cold frosting. All things considered though, it was delicious and I will absolutely be ordering it again!
My sister got the salted caramel brownie. It was another gorgeous looking treat and she loved it! I took a bite of it and I will say it had a little more of that gritty texture that us gluten-free eaters know and may or may not love. I will say it was balanced out well with the different textures of the frostings and chocolate chips. We were also missing some of the caramel flavor and didn’t taste any salt. That being said, it still had great flavor and was a rich, sweet treat. I do think this one would be improved by being heated up and served with ice cream (but then again… what wouldn’t?). Overall, we would also order this one again!
That’s it for this review! Check back for my next gluten-free adventures at Disney World and thank you so much for supporting my blog!
