Let me preface this post by saying that I only recently discovered my gluten sensitivity so I haven’t tried a TON of gluten free options at Disney. However… on the same note, because I recently stopped eating gluten, I still remember (and crave) the tastes and textures of my favorite gluten-filled meals.
All that being said, here is my review of Pinocchio Village Haus’ gluten free chicken strips with fries.
As you can see, they definitely do not look the same as the typical chicken tenders. This had me a little concerned at first but I have to say, these are some of the BEST chicken tenders I have had, gluten or not. They reminded me a lot of Culvers chicken tenders, with a thin, crispy breading. The quality of this chicken was also amazing. Based on my family’s experience, the quality was even better than the typical tenders. The fries are not necessarily special, but it is nice to know they are fried in a dedicated fryer. For sauce/dip options they had honey mustard, ketchup, barbecue sauce and I *think* I remember seeing mayonnaise as well. The ones that I checked seemed to be gluten free but I recommend checking them before you eat it just to be sure, or even bringing your own favorite dip! Next time I come I am planning to bring some Chick-fil-a sauce to try with it!
Also, it’s worth mentioning that this restaurant is super cute and while it may feel a little cramped during busy times of the day, there are opportunities to sit in some really unique seats. Pinocchio Village Haus is located right next to “it’s a small world,” and there are actually windows people in the restaurant can view the boats right after they launch. They even have signs that you can hold up for the riders to react to. I have so many great memories of sitting there when I was little and watching the boats go by!
As far as pricing, this is a quick service restaurant, so prices are on the lower end (of Disney prices). This meal cost $10.99 and the kid’s version (which includes only 2 strips but allows for the option of 2 sides and a small water or milk) costs $8.49.
Overall, is this meal super innovative, unique, or healthy? No. But sometimes, especially at a theme park, you just want a good old fashioned meal of chicken tenders and fries!
